Albert Chretien
unters find remains of Canadian man
missing since 2011 in wilderness near Nevada-Idaho line

By Associated Press, Updated: Monday, October 1, 10:43 AMAP
Albert and Rita Chretien left Penticton at about 6 a.m. on Mar. 19 and were last seen crossing the border into the U.S. at Oroville just over an hour later.

The body of Albert Chretien, who disappeared on a road trip to Las Vegas with his wife last spring, has finally been found, CBC News has confirmed. A pair of hunters came across Chretien's body on Saturday in a wooded area in Northern Elko County, Nevada officials said. His identity was confirmed by information in his wallet and business cards. Det. Dennis Journigan of the county Sheriff's Department says Chretien's remains were discovered in a secluded area of Merritt Mountain, about 11 kilometres west from where he set off. Chretien's wife, Rita, survived for 48 days in Nevada's wilderness, praying and subsisting on candy, trail mix and snow, before she heard rescuers in the distance last May and was able to alert them. The couple got stuck on a snowy logging road in northeastern Nevada last spring after getting lost on a road trip from their home in Penticton to Las Vegas. Albert Chretien had reportedly tried to look for help on foot, while his wife stayed in their Chevrolet Astro minivan. Officials told CBC News that Chretien had been heading in the right direction and wasn't too far from a road, but that his journey was likely hampered by deep snow. Journigan said the police department had been in touch with the family, and the reaction was "relief ... that we had actually found him." Chretien's remains have been brought to Elko, and once evidence and details are collected from the scene, the sheriff will decide when, and how, to send his body home, Journigan added. Journigan says the remains were intact and hadn't been scattered by animals.

Stephanie Ewing

The Port Alberni RCMP have concluded their investigation into the disappearance of 30 year old Stephanie EWING. A resident in Beaver Creek discovered EWING on Saturday afternoon, deceased, in a wooded area on a rural property located not far from EWING's home. Investigators determined that no foul play was involved in EWING's death, and the matter is now being managed by the BC Coroner's Office.
The Port Alberni RCMP would like to thank the public and the media for their support in the search for Stephanie EWING.

Missing Surrey man found dead

CBC News
Jan 27, 2013 10:16 AM PT
Kevin Fry had been missing since Jan. 1.
Searchers have found the remains of a 20-year-old Surrey, B.C., man who had been missing since New Year's Day.
Members of a team of family and friends of Kevin Fry found his body in a wooded area of Fraser Heights near 110th Avenue and 154th Street Saturday afternoon.
No cause has been determined for his death, but RCMP say they do not suspect foul play.
This is the second time a member of the Fry family went missing. Fry's father, Glen Fry, went missing in February 2000 and hasn't been seen since.
Fry’s mother, Tracey Fry, said before the body was found that Kevin had never been in trouble, has no mental health or addiction issues, and would never leave his family wondering where he had gone.
More than 50 people had signed up for the search Saturday, with plans to trace the route he was believed to have taken while on the way on a skateboard to his employer's home to pick up a paycheque. He never arrived.
Another search had been organized for Sunday in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside.

Mary Jane Hill

Remembered by her daughter Vicky
and Grandchildren Zoey and Eric

Please view Vicky's Journey

Mary Jane Hill

Vicki Hill and myself have just retrieved her mothers death certificate. another stepping stone on Vicki's journey to solve the 'puzzle' as she sometimes calls it. She was just a babe when her mother fell victim to the now infamous highway 16. Found March 26, 1978, 23 miles east of Prince Rupert. She cried when she received the certificate, as did i, and after staring at the document in her hand said to me, 'i am sad that none came to get this'. i have known her now for a year and a half. i know that with her mother a piece of Vicki's heart is also gone. but yet there is a glimmer in Vicki's eye, as she starts her climb upward and forward taking positive steps to her journey for closure. although she never had a chance to run to her mother when she fell or needed a shoulder to cry on, she feels her mothers spirit is with her, as does daughter Zoey who sometimes says she sees an angel and tells her mom it looks just like her grandma Mary Jane's picture. Her spirit also lives on through her grandson, Eric, Zoey's brother. so here we have Tony yet another statistic, perhaps one of several not necessarily listed as missing on the highway. a Mrs. Mary Jane Hill, born in the great Nass Valley home of the Nisga'a people at Kincolith BC, deceased on March 26, 1978 outside of Prince Rupert BC. of manslaughter.

We thank you for your website and we thank you for your time and energy. This will mean a lot to Vicki Patricia Hill who is also 31 years old this past September. This has been a big year for her, because this was the age her mom was taken, and she quite often would express to me feelings of fear tied into her own mortality. Vicki now realizes she has to look after her own babies and how much they need her, as well as her quest to 'put her mother to rest' so to speak. She is a strong woman who has taken quite a journey, but she knows as her mothers spirit is with her that her journey has just begun.
