Family still hopeful one year after pregnant woman‘s disappearance - Marie Stuart
Written by Robert Smith × December 7, 2019 - Valliant News

Police are renewing their call for tips about Marie Stuart‘s whereabouts, one year after she disappeared in the middle of her pregnancy.
The Abbotsford, B.C. resident was about five months along when she vanished without warning last Dec. 27, making an already desperate situation even more troubling for her worried loves ones.
On Wednesday, police marked the anniversary of her disappearance by appealing once more for the public’s help.
"Her baby‘s due date and her own birthday have passed," the Abbotsford Police Department said in a news release. "Her family and friends continue to worry incredibly about her and they maintain hope that she can be found."
Stuart, who was 38 at the time of her disappearance, also did not have her medication with her when she went missing.
According to her family, Stuart has no history of running off, though her husband Leslie Scott Schellenberg told reporters that she had been in a "bit of a state" before she vanished.
Police have since followed up on a number of tips and potential sightings, but have been unable to locate her. Her last confirmed sighting was in the area of the Sevenoaks Shopping Centre, and authorities conducted multiple fruitless searches of the nearby Mill Park Lake area from both land and water.
Anyone who has information on Stuart’s whereabouts or who believes they might have had with her over the last year is asked to call the Abbotsford Police Department at, or Crime Stoppers at .

An Abbotsford family is pleading for their daughter's safe return home after she vanished two years ago.
Kristina Ward was last seen with a man in Surrey.

RCMP hope tips from the public will help identify him.
“We love you Kristina, come home,” said Leanne Ward as she clutched a red missing poster. (CTV)
Kristina Ward was last seen at the intersection of 104 Avenue and 144 Street two years ago. That final sighting was caught on surveillance footage. (RCMP)
Ward’s parents held a press conference in Surrey Friday morning to give an update on their daughter’s case.
“We love you Kristina, come home,” said Leanne Ward as she clutched a red missing poster.
She said her daughter had plans to meet up with some friends the day she vanished.
“She ended up going out for the day down to Langley and told me more or less she would be home later," Leanne Ward said.
But she never heard from her daughter again.
Kristina’s phone and bank account have had no activity since then.
“I had a talk with my daughter two weeks before she went missing about stranger danger,” explained the mother.
Ward would now be 22 years old, but has the mental capacity of someone far younger.
“She wanted a better life for herself and unfortunately went the wrong way about finding friends. I believe she was mislead and was abducted,” Leanne Ward told CTV News Vancouver.
Kristina Ward was last seen at the intersection of 104 Avenue and 144 Street two years ago.
That final sighting was caught on surveillance footage.
“This was the last sighting of her, the tape of a man with a bike,” said Leanne Ward.
Langley RCMP have yet to identify him, but have renewed their call for witnesses.
“Police encourage everyone to view the video. Unfortunately, it is taken from quite a distance, however you may be familiar with the gait or mannerisms of the male walking with Kristina,” said RCMP in a release Friday.
All tips so far have led to a dead end.
“It’s hard on our hearts. It pulls on our heart strings,” said the mother.
The family is still holding out hope that Kristina is alive.
“Kristina, if you’re watching, we just want closure with you,” said Art Ward, her father.
Anyone with information is asked to call Langley RCMP at 604-532-3200 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

'Tragic and haunting memory': B.C. family has been missing for 30 years
PLEASE CTV NEWS FOR FULL STORY

The early hours of Aug. 2, 1989 was the last time anyone heard from the Jack family.
Ronnie Jack had called his mother in the Burns Lake, B.C. area and shortly after, it's believed he had his partner Doreen and their two young children left their home with an unknown man in a dark pick-up truck.
They were expected to return 10 days later, but have not been seen since.
Thirty years later, RCMP are still unsure of what happened to the Jack family and over the years of investigating, several properties have been searched as possible burial sites for them. None of the searches have been successful and police say a family of four going missing is "very unusual" and may have never happened in Canada before or since.
Most recently, RCMP searched a property on the Saik'uz First Nation, south of Vanderhoof, B.C., with support of chief and council. On Aug. 28, 29 and 30 of this year, investigators used ground-penetrating radar and heavy equipment to search the area but found no evidence of the Jack family.
"I want to thank everyone who helped with the search for their support, even though there was nothing found," said Marlene Jack, Doreen's sister and the spokesperson for the family, in a news release. "I would like to ask from the bottom of my heart that everyone with information come forward to police. Please help bring our family home."

It is believed that shortly after that phone call, the family departed their home on Strathcona Avenue in Prince George and have never been seen since.
